President's Welcome
Gammon M. Earhart, PT, PhD

I am proud to be President of the American Physical Therapy Association Section on Research, or SOR.  Those three letters, S-O-R, represent not only the name of our section but also the core benefits of membership in the Section on Research.  The S is for Support.  The Section supports members in numerous ways, including providing resources through our website and newsletters, offering financial assistance to groups working to incorporate evidence into practice, and advocating for policies and legislation to support rehabilitation research.  The O is for Opportunities.  The Section provides educational programming and facilitates networking through events such as our signature event, the SOR Research Retreat.  The R is for Reach.  The mission of the Section spans the full spectrum of physical therapy, from acute care to home health, from classroom to clinic, and from bench to bedside with the goal of informing best practice and keeping our profession moving forward.  I hope that whether you are a clinician, researcher, student, or all of the above, you will consider becoming more involved than ever in our organization so that you can benefit from the Support, Opportunities and Reach provided by the SOR.
