Poster/Platform Abstract Submission Update – CSM 2020, Denver, CO

CSM 2020 will be February 12-15, 2020 in Denver, Colorado, and planning is underway. Symposium presentation submissions closed in March, however, Poster/Platform Abstracts are being accepted until July 12, 2019 at:

CSM is an excellent opportunity to present your work, gain valuable feedback and create a dialogue with colleagues regarding your current research. As the largest national conference in physical therapy, abstract submissions for presentation at CSM should be innovative, well-written, and contain data to support your research or case study.

A new submission site is being used for abstract submissions this year. In contrast to previous years, the abstract instructions and the online submission system do not contain any length limitations for the body of the abstract. The Section on Research Abstract Committee is requesting that all abstract submissions adhere to the maximum length used in previous years, which was 3,125 characters including spaces. Abstracts that significantly exceed this length will be triaged and not reviewed.

All abstracts submitted to the Section on Research for CSM are peer-reviewed and only the highest scoring abstracts are accepted for presentation as a platform or poster. Be sure to review and follow the submission instructions and submit your best work!

If you have questions contact We are looking forward to another great year of SOR programming at CSM 2020!

DPT Student Travel Awards for National Student Conclave

Are you a student member interested in attending NSC? Are you interested in pursuing research after graduation?

The Section on Research (SOR) DPT Student Travel Award was created to assist and support DPT students interested in pursuing research after graduation to subsidize costs to attend an APTA national conference. For 2019, SOR has funding for up to 3 awards of $500 each to offset the costs for attending NSC2019, to be held October 31-November 2, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM.

Applicants must be current Section on Research members and currently enrolled in a (CAPTE-approved) DPT program. Applicants must submit an application as part of the submission process. Winning applicants will receive up to $500 each for reimbursement of conference-related expenses such as travel/lodging/meals. To be reimbursed, the recipient must submit a follow-up essay, proof of conference registration and attendance, original receipts and the Section’s reimbursement form to the Section’s Executive Office within 6 weeks of the conference, or forfeit the award.

Recipients will be expected to maintain their Section membership (membership is free for APTA student members!) and join one of the 4 Section Special Interest Groups for a period of 1 year following the conference. This scholarship may be received only once per individual.

Applications are due by August 15, 2019.

We will ask student travel award recipients to write a short story about their NSC experience following the conference for inclusion in the SOR monthly newsletter.
