The USF Health School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPT&RS) invites qualified individuals for the Assistant Director of Research at the Associate/Professor level. This is a new 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure or tenure-accruing faculty position and will remain open until filled. We seek an individual with experience in procuring extramural funding who wishes to continue their own line of research while leading the School’s research mission. The position will be approximately 70% research/administration with other assignments (e.g., teaching, service) dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and the program’s needs. Faculty rank, salary and start-up packages are highly competitive and commensurate with academic qualifications.


Develop and administer a research program in a field related to physical therapy.
Seek and obtain extramural research funding.
Mentor junior tenure-accruing faculty in developing an independent and/or collaborative research agenda.
Work within the USF Health interprofessional academic setting of SPT&RS of the Morsani College of Medicine to expand research initiatives.
Administrative and leadership responsibilities within the USF SPT&RS (e.g., Research Committee Chair, member of the SPT&RS Leadership Team)


Entry-level degree in Physical Therapy (BS, MS, or DPT), PhD degree, or equivalent.
History of peer-reviewed publication and extramural funding.
Eligibility for Physical Therapy licensure in the State of Florida.
Minimum 5 years experience as a physical therapist and/or educator.
For appointment as Associate Professor: minimum 5 years full-time appointed academic experience at Assistant Professor rank.
For appointment as Professor: minimum 5 years full-time appointed academic experience at Associate Professor rank.


History of recent extramural research funding.
Documented experience and accomplishments in interprofessional research and academic endeavors.
